For Christian and Sophia, everything began in 2019 on a small surf beach in Mexico. Both originally from Germany, they had spent extended time traveling and living across Mexico and other parts of Latin America. What connected them from the very beginning was a shared love for the ocean, for travel, and for a way of life that feels both simple and deeply meaningful.
What started as a chance encounter soon turned into a shared vision. They dreamed of creating a place of their own by the sea. A place that would be more than just a home. A place that would capture a feeling of freedom, connection to nature, and thoughtful design.
After the pandemic, they traveled to Costa Rica for the first time. From the moment they arrived in Santa Teresa, something felt different. The raw beauty, the energy, the rhythm of life between jungle and ocean made an immediate impression. It was clear that this was not just another destination. It was the place they had been looking for.
Not long after, they found their land. Surrounded by tropical greenery and just minutes from the beach, it became the foundation for what would later become Botanika Suites.
Together with local and close architect friends, they began to design and develop the project with great attention to detail. The vision was to create a space that feels modern yet warm, minimal yet inviting, and deeply connected to its natural surroundings.
A strong focus was placed on materials. High quality local teak wood plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere of the spaces, adding warmth, texture, and a sense of calm. Elements that were not available locally in the desired quality were carefully sourced and imported from Germany and the United States to ensure both durability and refined aesthetics.
Botanika Suites is more than a place to stay. It is the result of a personal journey, a shared vision, and a deep appreciation for a truly special place in the world.
